It's Easy to View and Act on Your Marketing Data with Today's Visualization Tools

Website, social media, pay-per-click ads – you have a lot going on when marketing your business, so you need an easy way to keep track of it all. Like a dashboard tool!

Back in 2016, we were looking for a tool to share nice, neat reports with clients about their digital marketing campaigns. Cyfe was our choice then. Our report of choice has changed over the years, but the need to generate a nice, neat report has not. If you aren’t already using some kind of marketing data visualization dashboard for your business, you are really missing out!

What is data visualization?

Simply put, data visualization turns a bunch of hard-to-fathom data into pretty pictures that help us understand what’s going on with our marketing efforts. Visuals could include line graphs, pie charts, bar charts, and more. We can compare time periods, add up totals, or follow trends. The data is all there, but it avoids the slog of trying to make sense of a bunch of numbers.

What sort of data is visualized?

Since we’re talking about marketing data, you could set up a dashboard that includes Google Analytics for your website as well as activity on your Google Business Profile. You could also add all your social media platforms from LinkedIn to TikTok, depending on where you spend your time. If you do any advertising such as Facebook Ads or Google Ads, you can track success there, along with what you are spending.

Why is it important to visualize this data?

Measurement is vital in any marketing campaign. If you don’t know where you are now, how will you know if your marketing is working or if you’re just wasting your money? A marketing dashboard with visual representation of your data helps you recognize patterns that are happening so you can make decisions to improve those patterns.

What are some tools that businesses use?

Many data visualization tools are available to businesses of all sizes and budgets. Obviously, some will have more bells and whistles than others. Like us, you may go through several as your needs change. Some popular ones you could check out include Geckoboard, DashThis, Cyfe, and Hubspot.

Why should I use a marketing dashboard tool?

You’re a hardworking business owner. Are you taking the time now to go over your data or do you put it off because you’re so busy? Graphs are easier to understand than spreadsheets, so it’s no trouble to scan weekly or monthly for an understanding of your business that you are missing now. A dashboard report also shows you all of your marketing data in one place, making it easy to share with colleagues who are also pressed for time.

Each place your business appears online provides data you can access, but why jump from one to the next when you can visualize it all on one dashboard? Sprocket provides data visualization for our clients, as well as guidance on how to work with the data. If you are interested in learning more about how we can help, give us a call today.
