All of Your Painstaking Search Work Leads Back to Your Website

Eighteenth in a series

It all boils down to this: Are you the best answer to the searcher’s question? Coordinating your SEO efforts assures Google that you are.

Since January, we have shared the Sprocket team’s game plan for online success, starting with the most basic functions for your website. Let’s review strategies for Search Engine Optimization today and show why a well-synchronized approach gives you the most bang for your buck.

Potential customers go online to find – some thing. They may or may not know exactly what to call it, but they’ll try to describe it in the search bar. These folks are ready to buy so, of course, you want to be the exact response to their request. While researching and choosing the most appropriate search terms will certainly help customers find you, using those terms in all the right places will benefit you exponentially.

Yes, those keywords should definitely be on your website, but making use of those terms elsewhere online and then linking back to your site is further proof to the search engines that you really are the right response. Start by setting up a Google Business Profile, optimize it for your chosen keywords, and be sure to maintain it on a regular basis.

The next step in establishing the authority of your website is to be listed in online directories such as those for your specific industry. There are more directories available than you’d think and every link back to your site gives your SEO a boost and underscores your legitimacy to human eyes as well. Finally, be sure to optimize for local search because locations are very popular query terms.

Completing any one of these steps makes you more likely to be found online. Doing them all at the same time means they feed each other for even better results. But keep in mind that SEO isn’t a “set it and forget it” task. Few businesses commit to continuously improving their optimization and that’s how you can overtake your competition on the results page.

The whole point of search is to help people find the “thing” they are ready to buy. Search engines just want to give them the best answer. Your job is to prove that you are that best answer by using accurate keywords, building online support, and providing exceptional customer experience on your website. The strategy is simple, but it takes work and our Sprocket Websites team knows how to get that work done. Because we know you’re already busy, learn how we can work to optimize your business online. Give us a call today!
