Twitter Dashboard
DIY Sprocket Solutions
Twitter Dashboard is a new app and marketing tool that Twitter has introduced to help businesses. The purpose is to allow you to better understand, engage, and grow your audience on Twitter –exactly what a marketer is looking for. As a social media marketer, I appreciate Twitter continuing to grow tools that help brands improve performance on the platform. It really is targeted towards the management of Twitter business accounts. So, how does it work?
Well, first you should know that Twitter Dashboard is available for both desktop use and as an iOS mobile application. To access this marketing tool you can download it from the Apple App store or by clicking HERE from a desktop. This is a great option for marketers who use either their phones or a desktop or both interchangeably. This adds more usability to the app.
Once you have access, it allows you to set up a business account. You enter the type of business, number of employees, and can then set up a custom feed using keywords and hashtags relevant to your specific business.
From Business to Community:
First thing to see, after entering the dashboard is the “About you” feed. It displays in one place the Tweets containing your brand mentions and the specific keyword and hashtags that you included while setting it up. The Tweets are shown in a chronological order and you can easily pick those that you would like to favourite, reply or retweet. This feed is very similar to the feeds you can create in Tweetdeck. However, now you can see all the Tweets important for your business in one place.
Besides the “About you” feed, you can still see a feed with your own tweets and the timeline with all the Tweets from the people you follow.
With so many other social media management tools out there, I was a little skeptical about how beneficial this app would be. It does have a lot of great tools in one place though.
A few more of the features include a scheduling system under the “Create” tab. This allows you to generate and then schedule tweets that you’d like to go out on specific days at specific times. This is very similar to programs like Tweetdeck and Hootsuite, but it’s all in one place. Another very good feature that I really like is within the tabs in Twitter Dashboard it will offer you suggestions for new Tweets. This is really great if you’re looking for original posts and need some ideas for content and fodder.
Now, what about tracking your results?
It does have analytics that make it easy to track your page performance, engagement of your tweets, etc. It allows you to very easily monitor your brand mentions and track older tweets that your users are really engaging with.
All in all? I think it was a great move by Twitter and worth checking out if you’re a marketer. I think as time goes on, there are some more great features that they could add to the app. But overall, it’s a really solid choice. Best of all? It’s free.
What are your thoughts? Have you tried it out yet? Will you be trying it out soon? What would you like to see be included in the app? Comment below!
