The Last Sprocket Report

You read that right. This is the last Sprocket Report, and we want to thank you for letting us into your email inbox for all these years!

Like every business, Sprocket has evolved over time, with our newsletter evolving alongside. In the earliest days, our articles were heavily technical, appealing to fellow coders. Then we started writing about business websites and marketing. We added a second regular feature, DIY Sprocket Solutions, specifically for smaller businesses and start-ups to help them compete online.

The tools and services we used to send The Sprocket Report have changed. The layout has changed. The logo has changed. But for the past sixteen years, our intent has not changed. We've endeavored to share marketing tips, relate industry information, and translate tech-speak for business owners and not-for-profit managers.

Sprocket itself is not ending. It’s just evolving... again. Recently, Sprocket Websites became Sprocket Websites + Digital Marketing, which will soon be two independent entities: Sprocket Digital Marketing and Sprocket Web Apps.

Sprocket Digital Marketing will continue to handle search engine optimization, online promotion, and similar marketing responsibilities. The Sprocket Web Apps offshoot will concentrate on website functionality for specific industries. This reorganization will allow a clearer focus on the needs of Sprocket clients.

Both Sprocket Digital Marketing and Sprocket Web Apps will stay in touch with you, our readers, but I am retiring. I have been writing marketing and tech articles every other week since April of 2003, starting with Gnusworthy Tips before The Sprocket Report.

Now it’s time to turn my full attention to other writing projects. You are welcome to check out what I’m up to at kategingold.com/blog. The last sixteen years on the internet have been astonishing, and it’s been a pleasure to share them with you.
