Happy Holidays Can Be Every Day with Memorable Customer Service

‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the office
Every creature was stirring, ticked off by the thoughtless.
When, what to our wondering ears should appear,
But a customer rep, smiling through her headgear.

It had been a rough couple of days. Important projects needed completion before the end of the year, and then a couple of unexpected fires flared up, adding to the stress. Emails, texts, and phone calls started getting more and more tense.

Making approximately the billionth call to one company’s tech support, we prepared to fight with the unsympathetic human robot answering, but we were greeted instead by a warm and friendly voice.

She listened to our problem calmly and asked all the right questions in a pleasantly unhurried way. Her manner was sociable but polite, cordial but competent. We felt a noticeable drop in blood pressure.

After giving her all the information required to fix our issue we asked “Are there any other questions for us?” There was a beat, and then she said “Well...do you have plans for the holidays?”

So we chatted a little about traveling and spending time with our families. It was just a few minutes, but it reset the rest of the day and reminded us how impactful good customer service can be.

As your business makes plans and resolutions for the new year, consider putting “customer service” at the top of the list because it can be a real differentiator in a competitive world. You know that people won’t forget having a bad experience, and they remember those good experiences, too. We will not forget the good experience we had the week before Christmas.

By the way, you’ll never believe what that lovely customer rep’s name was.

It was Angela.
