Getting Bloggy
DIY Sprocket Solutions
This article has been updated on 1/24/2019 with the article entitled “Blogging for Business"
It seems like everyone these days has a blog. Apparently, now I am also included in the ‘everyone’. I myself was introduced to the wonderful world of blogging about a year and a half ago. The blog that started the obsession is a DIY home renovation/design blog that I love and my husband hates because of all the extra work (remarkable and innovative ideas) that now fill up his Sundays. Lucky for him, once I popped into the blogging world, I discovered an internet Mecca. You would not believe how many people there are commenting, entering prize giveaways, reading, and BUYING because of these blogs. It is literally another civilization that you can, and I often do, get lost in for days. Why does this matter to you?
I am a firm believer that people want to talk to people. They want to know the kind of company that they are buying their products from. If you are a small business just starting up and not many people know who you are –why aren’t you telling them your story? Let’s say you make handmade doors. They’re beautiful. They speak for themselves really, I mean, check. out. these. doors. Problem? No one knows who you are. People may figure, why not go buy from some big name place that we know we’ll get some quality doors and don’t have to worry about not knowing who they are? If you had a blog overflowing with beautiful pictures of your beautiful doors, stories about how your grandpa taught you to build that first door, a little information about just who it is that you are, and a pretty little link to your website to order those gorgeous doors… I’m just saying, I’d stop in. I’d get lost in your blog for a bit. I might even try to convince my husband that the thing that our newly built rental condo really needs is one of your handmade doors.
I get that we’re not all ‘bloggers’. Keep in mind though that you don’t have to post about your breakfast cereal if you don’t want to. If you want to limit your posts to one or two a week filled with nothing but doors –go right ahead. The beauty of it is that it is completely customized to you. It’s also a place where people can rave about your services and leave comments drooling over the products that they wish they could splurge for. Like I said, it’s completely customizable to you. You can pick design options, layouts, upload your own photos, add video and audio, and blog away! You can link all of your social media right into the blog as well as links to your store and any other information that you want your customers to have. If you’re looking for my recommendation, check out WordPress Blog Hosting in our Sprocket Store. WordPress has thousands of free plugins, hundreds of free themes and is completely customizable. I wouldn’t be passing along this little nugget if I couldn’t say with certainty that this is an easy and completely beneficial addition to your online presence. There are two things that I really love about it. The first, that there is 24/7 support (people like me need 24/7 support) and the second, the plans start at only $4.99/mth. That’s only $60/yr to reach a whole realm of customers that you never even realized you were missing. I’m telling you, us blog readers are out there –just searching for another product to obsess over. As always, let me know any questions or concerns that you may have.
