Build a Better Business Facebook Page for Marketing Success

While new social media platforms pop up constantly, Facebook continues to be a formidable marketing tool deserving your serious attention. Have you followed these best practices?

Don’t forget that the largest audience on Facebook is people aged 25 through 34, closely followed by those aged 34 through 44. Those are the ones with jobs and income. For most businesses, this audience is most likely to want, need, and purchase what you are selling. So, if you haven’t given your business Facebook page any attention lately – or if you never set one up at all – here are the basic steps:

Setting up your page

Start with a personal Facebook account which is required to create a business page. There is an argument to be made for staying with a personal account if your business is personality-driven, but business pages have better options such as scheduling posts.

Once you log in to your account, click on the “Pages” option from the left-hand menu. Then, select “Create New Page.” Enter your business’s name, choose the appropriate category, and write a short description to highlight what your business offers.

Filling out the details

Once the basic setup is complete, fill in your business details. This includes your business address, phone number, and website URL. This information must be accurate and up to date. Not only does it help potential customers find and contact you easily, it also improves your Search Engine visibility.

Adding photos

Your profile picture should ideally be your logo, as it’s a key part of your brand identity. Take pains to make your cover photo, which appears at the top of your page, visually appealing and relevant to your business. Use this space to showcase your products, services, or even promotions.

Building a routine

Consistency is key on Facebook. Regularly posting updates, offers, and interesting content helps keep your audience engaged and informed. Content ideas include product updates, behind-the-scenes looks, customer testimonials, and industry news.

Remember to be social! Respond to people who comment or tag your business. Ask questions or run polls to engage your audience. Also, don’t shy away from negative comments. Respond politely. Provide an email address and continue the discussion offline. Hopefully, there's an amecable outcome, so jump back onto Facebook and add a comment saying so!

Taking it to the next level

Yes, it is true that organic reach on Facebook is not what it used to be. That said, Facebook’s advertising options are robust and affordable. Using their tools and analytics, you can get your message in front of a sizeable audience with a modest budget.
