Providing a Great "Customer Experience"
DIY Sprocket Solutions
This article has been updated on 12/21/2021 with the article entitled “Leverage Customer Experience As Your Small Biz Differentiator.”
It really is the little things in life that count. Yes, it’s important for businesses to have great customer service, but what about the customer experience? How do you think your customers would describe their experience with your business?
Maybe it’s time to step up your game and brainstorm a few “little things” that you can tweak or add to your business that would improve the customer experience that your consumers receive. This can vary greatly depending on what kind of business you’re involved in; but, think about the things that you appreciate when you are the customer. Hot towels at the end of a meal, coupons when you walk into your favorite store, a live-chat window when you visit a website, free reusable bags or wipes when you go to a grocery store –the list could go on for days.
Is your company going to fail if you don’t go above and beyond to provide that fantastic experience? Probably not. However, I know that I’m much more likely to return to a business where I’ve had an exceptional experience that goes above the norm.
Keep in mind though, that you don’t want to go overboard. Customers don’t want to be oversold, or bothered too much when they visit your site or enter your store. Give them some space. You want your customers to have convenience and feel appreciated, but you don’t want to smother them and scare them away. You also have to remember that customer experience doesn’t end when a customer leaves your store, your website, or your restaurant. You have to continue to be consistent across the board. This includes social media, your website, telephone assistance, emails, etc.
Not sure exactly what you should change or add to achieve this great customer experience? Ask your customers! Listen to what they have to say. People usually don’t have a problem telling businesses what they think they could improve. So take some feedback, and use that to your advantage. Give your customers the experience that they are looking for. Remember that you can’t please everyone, but you can try to improve.
