There are so many brands on Pinterest because brands know that consumers are on Pinterest. People are searching, shopping, looking for ideas and inspiration. Why not get in on the action? It can be really simple for certain types of businesses to sell. Retailers and brands with an actual product that people are searching for are going to have a really simple time of taking a shot of their product and pinning it. But, what about everyone else? Well Pinterest can still be an extremely valuable tool to the creative marketer.

Creative marketing on Pinterest is not limited only to fashionistas and business to customer (B2C) marketers -business to business (B2B) marketing can thrive as well. How? We’ll share.

1. Pinning Videos

Many companies are using platforms like YouTube or Vimeo to upload videos. The type of videos you have will vary depending on your business. Maybe you’re a company that makes “how to” educational videos if you’re selling a certain service. Maybe you have machinery or products that use online videos to market your products and services. These videos can be pinned directly from YouTube or Vimeo to Pinterest.

2. Creating “Behind the Scenes” Boards

Think of companies that provide consulting services. What exactly are they going to pin? They don’t have a hard product they are showing customers. Their service is their product. A behind the scenes board allows people to share photos of employees, share employees personal boards and ideas, share articles and more.

3. Creating an “Events” Board

If you have classes or other events for your business, whether regularly scheduled or once a year, you can create a board to highlight these events. You can include information for attendees, information on speakers and more. Attendees will be looking for upcoming information on the event and this could lead to higher event registration if you are opening it up to the public. This will also be a great way for the public to see classes your company offers, events you choose to take part in, and more. It gives people a window into what your company is about.

4. Share Visuals from your Blog Posts

Maybe you don’t have a product, but you do have great content. The images you use in your blog articles should be pinned to Pinterest –so choose them wisely. Consider the visual viral power of infographics. If you have enough, you can create an entirely separate board devoted to infographics. As far as article photos go, be sure to choose compelling and engaging images. Think of photos that make sense with your articles and will make people want to click through. This is another avenue to share content. Take relevant images and use them to your advantage.

5. Highlight your Products and Services

Get some great images that you use to represent your products and services. Think about images that represent those services. Spend some time on this and choose them wisely. You want something that people will a) actually click on to get to the link and b) people will actually pin. You can even create graphics for these that highlight different calls to action. Web design companies could put up a portfolio of web designs and logos. If you have ebooks, it would make sense to upload images of the front page of your eBook (or book). If you are promoting and allowing downloads to your eBook from your website or blog you could pin the image from that web page. The possibilities are endless. Just consider what you yourself would actually click on and use.
