Local Search Grid – More things to do with the data
Last time we talked about how to use the Local Search Grid tool to find out your local competitors for the same Primary Category keyword so you can compare their online presence with yours. But there is more you can learn from this tool.
One important aspect is that you will see who is trying to get online attention by using the same keywords you use, but fraudulently. People are always trying to find an easy cheat for the algorithms, and one way that shows up too frequently lately is the use of local search keywords in a business’s name.
For instance, you can check if your local competitor is really called “Pizza Delivery in Effingham” as recorded on their Google Business Profile. If their business name is, in fact, “Happy Hemp Dispensary,” then they are trying to game the system. It helps everyone when these imposters are identified and removed and, naturally, it will help your local SEO as well.
Of course, you will want to use more than one search term. The Local Search Grid does let you follow up to 30 keywords and there is even more to discover with this tool, which we will discuss next time. If you are interested in learning more before then, just talk to your account executive.
