Have You Seen the Changes in these Facebook Tools?

DIY Sprocket Solutions

This is an update to "5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know You Could Do When Marketing on Facebook” dated 11/20/2013.

When it comes to marketing your business on Facebook, things are constantly changing. Plenty has changed since we first wrote about these few things you can use for your marketing strategy. Here’s what’s out and what’s still in:

Text to Like:
Facebook used to allow you to post updates and your customers to like your Facebook page through text message by texting to FBOOK (32655). That is no longer an option.

Editing Links:
When you’re adding a status update to your page with a link to another page a box pops up underneath that has a photo, a title, and a description of the link. If your images have a back/forth arrow in the corner, you can click to see the thumbnails available to use or click the X to delete images you don’t want to use. In some cases, you may be able to add your own images to the gallery, although you can’t replace all of the original images. You used to be able to edit both the text in the title and the text in the description, but “bad guys” misused that option so now you’re stuck with whatever generates.

Editing Photos:
When you post a photo to your page, you have the option of editing it right on the platform. When you position your cursor over the image, you will see several options: delete, tag and edit. Among the things you can do in Edit Mode is crop, add text and use a filter.

Embedded Posts:
This is still feature available for Facebook. Embedding is only possible with public posts and is found in the drop down menu when you click on the three dots in the right hand corner of the post. When you click "Embed Post" a box of code pops up. You have to just simply copy and paste that code to your own blog or web page.

Scheduled Posting:
Facebook has continued to improve the scheduled posting functions. You still can’t schedule posts on your Facebook personal Profile, but you can schedule posts for business Pages and for group Pages. If you are using a social media management tool such as Hootsuite to schedule posts for multiple platforms, you may not need this feature, but scheduling directly on Facebook is a simple and free option.

Facebook is always changing, which is why we updated this article. It’s certainly not the only social media platform available for your business marketing, but it still is quite powerful, particularly among certain demographics. Knowing how to make the best use of this tool makes it easier to get in front of the people who are looking for your product or service. If you have a favorite Facebook trick, let us know in the comments below.
