Google Business Profile Audit – Comparing and Improving Results (9/1)
Once you know how to read the Google Business Profile Audit, you’ll want to compare yourself to the competition and rise above them.
Start by knocking off the easiest places to improve: update your Profile, remove duplicate listings, and correct your NAP to be the same everywhere online.
Next, study your rank compared to your competitors. Are they cited on more directories? Do they have more or better reviews? What about the number of links from other websites? You’ll soon learn where to next focus your efforts.
Consider rethinking your search terms as well. Your competitors may rank higher for one term while you rank higher for another. Figure out why so you work around it. For instance, when a theatre building, a theatre company, and a theatre union all compete on the term “theatre,” the building may be deemed the best match and thus rank highest.
Ranking is all by unknowable algorithm, but is definitely based on being the best result to a search term. Your job is to prove in a million little ways that you are that best result.
