Thinking about Thanking this Week
The Sprocket Report
“What are you thankful for?” It’s a question you’re probably hearing a lot this week. Us, too, so we took a few minutes to consider what a web development company might be thankful for:
We’re thankful for the internet, of course, because without it there would be no such thing as web developers. And also for improved internet access, which has come a long, LONG way. Remember when you had to use a dial-up modem to get connected?
Electricity is an obvious choice. In the rare instances of a power failure, we’re pretty much done for the day unless we can find a coffee shop or library that still has power.
Every single morning, we’re thankful for our commute. Instead of wasting time in a traffic jam, it takes just minutes to walk downstairs and grab our beverage of choice before getting to work.
We use a lot of cool tools, but Skype rates pretty high. Even though Jim and Susan are in the West Coast office and Don and Kate are in the Midwest office, by using Skype we can talk and work together as if we’re in the same conference room.
And while we’re talking about the two offices, we’re pretty thankful that after seven years, the Sprocket team still has fun working together. Add even more thankfulness for team members like Breanne and Ken and the many other talented contractors who work with us.
Last – although certainly not least – we are extremely thankful for our clients. Yes, we are grateful for their patronage which keeps us in business, but there’s so much more. Many of our clients are also friends and all of them teach us something. We learn about industries totally different from our own and we discover new technology to help them promote their businesses online. We’re also privileged to witness the enthusiasm and tenacity with which they pursue their passions.
Sprocket has so much to be thankful for and we probably don’t think about it often enough. As you’re trying to jam all the work into a shortened week, please let us take one more moment of your time to say “Thank you” for your support. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
