What Do You Have Planned for Your Business in the New Year?

Did you know that December is Write a Business Plan month? If you want to start a business, you certainly need a business plan, but the business you’re running now could use one, too, and here’s why:

The market has changed

Once upon a time, we provided clients with cutting-edge marketing technology – CD-ROMs. When was the last time you saw one of those? When it became obvious that marketing was headed in a different direction, we had to pivot, too. It’s important to be aware of what’s happening in your industry and to be ready to shift your business to meet new needs.

You have changed

Over time, your business can find success in areas you didn’t anticipate when you wrote up your original business plan. That’s terrific! But that means your plan is out of date and you could be missing important pieces that will help propel you even further. Reviewing where you were and where you are now will prepare you better for the future.

You want to change

Maybe family responsibilities are greater or less than they used to be, or you’re excited to try a different aspect of your core business. There’s no rule saying you have to stick to what you envisioned years ago. Researching and writing up a new business plan could be the kick you need today.

For many businesses, the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day are not particularly productive. People are traveling, still in the holiday mood, and exhausted from celebrations. This can be a great time to daydream a bit about what you want your business to do in the coming year, and outline some ideas for a new business plan. The Sprocket Websites team can be your partner on this new journey, including website capabilities, search engine optimization, and digital marketing. Call us when you’re ready to put your new plan into action!
