Reading your Google Analytics (GA4) Report
One of the reports that Sprocket Websites provides on your dashboard is the Google Analytics report of website traffic. These stats are crucial for informing your future marketing efforts as well as improving the customer experience on your site.
Even if you have used Google Analytics before, the latest Analytics tool, GA4, may look unfamiliar, but you still have access to an amazing amount of data useful to your business.
Google records the number of visitors to your website who are called Users. Please keep in mind that the User number reported is not exact. For instance, if one person visits your site from their computer as well as from their smart phone, Google reports them as two separate Users. Users who clear their cookies or share a computer with others will also affect the accuracy of the User report.
Google also measures Sessions to report on what Users do while visiting your website. Google defines a Session from the time a User arrives on your site until the time they leave. The accuracy of this measurement is also a little fluid. For example, Google “times out” a session after 30 minutes of inactivity, so if someone takes a 31-minute lunch break and then comes back to click around some more, it will be logged as a second Session of a Returning User.
The dashboard also reports on your website's Conversions, how many occurred, and on which days. GA4 defines Conversions as "any user action that's valuable to your business." Some Conversions are automatically assigned, but you can create your own as well. Talk to your account rep if you'd like to add new Conversions.
