DNNWorld 2012 Wraps Up

Jim and Don Bring Back Some CMS "Magic"

Jim and Don just flew back from Orlando and boy, are their arms tired.

But seriously, folks! The boys packed a ton of learning and networking into their days at DNNWorld 2012 and have returned to the office inspired by nifty new modules, cool tools and forward-thinking strategies.

CMS, usually defined as “Content Management System,” was redefined by DotNetNuke (DNN) as “Cloud, Mobile, Social” and many of the presentations and training sessions focused on those three themes.

Most critical to the majority of our clients is the Mobile aspect, and the boys brought back some great technology to help you step up your game in today’s online world.

With the ever-growing use of mobile devices, having a website that looks good and works well on these smaller screens is becoming mandatory. Yes, every site can be viewed on every device, but without special planning, the site becomes a liability rather than an asset. Annoying results like buttons that are too small or having to scroll back and forth across a page can turn off visitors.

Rather than having to create a second website for mobile, the latest DNN skins are built to be responsive to the device used. Using one of these newer skins, your website looks great – and normal – when viewed on a laptop computer. When viewed on a smaller screen like that of a cell phone or tablet, the layout rearranges itself “automagically” to look and work best in that environment.

That means you have only one website to build, maintain and update while putting your best foot forward on every type of screen.

As we often say, websites are living entities, not “get it and forget it” products. In our fast-paced world, all technology eventually becomes obsolete, unsupported, or inadequate to run the latest and greatest versions. One of the reasons we chose DNN as our platform was for the ability to upgrade our clients’ capabilities with relatively little upheaval.

Rather than creating a brand new site, DNN allows you to “reskin” your current site to take advantage of the newest built-in technological advances. Not having to move all of your content keeps costs way down while pimping your site with impressive new features.

Contact us today to upgrade your DNN site with the latest technology, straight from DNNWorld. Don’t have a DNN site? Let us show you what you’re missing!
