#ASCPAM11 – American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Annual Meeting 2011
ASCPAM 2011
There were some managed care buying groups and a few vendors showing off some new software initiatives. My interest was specifically in observing marketing methods and trends in the industry. It appears to me that traditional marketing methods were effectively employed. I saw only a few companies taking advantage of social media. The #ASCP had signs around the event to point out Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn groups. They however, had long URL’s on their signage, which should have been replaced with QR codes or shortened domain names using a service like bit.ly. There were a couple of vendors, Pharmacy Technology Resources had QR codes right on their booth so that you could scan and get right to their marketing materials without having to grab and carry paper flyers. There were a few others that had some sort of social media mentions, but it wasn’t front and center. There was a company, Novo Nordisk, which sponsored the room keys at the hotel and there were several companies that delivered marketing materials right to the hotel room of the guests that were attending the conference. All in all, good use of signage, marketing material and a below average use of new technologies like social media and QR codes. Susan says that it was a good show from a content prospective, but I’ll let her blog about that.
