Are Your Customers Mobile?

Seeing is believing, and you'll make your website mobile too!

This article has been updated on 9/15/2020 with the article entitledHow Well Does Your Website Work for Mobile Visitors?

Since surveys show that 54% of us check our phones even when lying in bed ( Lookout.com ), the chances are very high that your customers are mobile users, too. OK, lying in bed doesn't sound very mobile, but they're using their mobile phones then. Think "convenient", "personal", "handy." Then think, "is my business ready for them?" Take a look at these statistics – and this cool way to display them!

Almost a third of Americans use their smartphones to look for local information on a weekly basis – a quarter search locally EVERY DAY. If you don't have a mobile-friendly web presence you're probably losing some prospective customers because about half of those folks will follow up with a call or visit to the business.

You have no doubt heard experts talking about mobile websites and wondered to yourself how much people really use their phones and ipads for web searches. Seminars and articles toss statistics at you, like we did in the paragraph above, and you may even have taken notes. But then the time comes to plan your web marketing and you're still not convinced about the impact of mobile search.

Well, have we got a cool tool for you!

ThinkInsights with Google offers Our Mobile Planet, chockfull of stats on who's using what where and why in the mobile world. Not only are the numbers enlightening, but the display is fun and pretty so you can present nifty reports to your marketing team or to your boss.

For instance, during the holiday shopping season, brick-and-mortar stores worry that customers are searching for products and also buying them online. At Our Mobile Planet, we can create a graph that shows us the action taken after looking for local information on a smartphone by mobile users living the United States. Surprisingly, more customers made a purchase in a store than online!

(see the graph at the end of our article)

Take a look at Our Mobile Planet and play with some of the data to make your own graphs. It's an eye-opener that will inspire you to do more with your mobile presence.

If you're ready to create a mobile website or to re-create your current site with a responsive skin to work with both mobile devices as well as desktop screens, contact us to get started today. We're happy to help you "go mobile!"
