The first step in having a successful social media marketing campaign is having great content to share with the masses. But, what comes next? Distributing your content! I’ve been using and doing research on some sponsored options and most recently have been looking into LinkedIn’s Sponsored Updates. LinkedIn Sponsored Updates are a paid media option for sharing your messages with the right people. Is it something worth looking into? In my opinion, if you’re considering a business-to-business paid campaign option, I think it is.
Here’s why:
It allows for native advertising. This means that your posts are nudged in as “sponsored updates” instead of ads. It’s a nicer and less intrusive way for the masses to see your posts. There is a much more organic flow as they just appear in viewers’ feeds like any other ordinary post. This makes it easy for people to look at your post with interest instead of an automatic negative “this-is-an-ad-run-away” view.
It also allows for precise targeting. This targeting ensures that your posts get into the feeds of the right audiences. You’re getting the most “bang for your buck”, so to speak. You can target by location, specific industry, company, company size, job title, etc. You can create a customer persona and target to that customer. This is great for getting your sponsored post in front of the right people.
Along with the more precise targeting –you already are on a network of professional members. The people on LinkedIn are there for a reason and the content that you are pushing out there is more likely to get picked up if you are marketing from a business-to-business perspective.
Last, but certainly not least, the sponsored updates are easy to use. LinkedIn allows campaigns to be adapted, customized, stopped and started easily. It offers a flexibility that not all of the other social networks allow on their ad campaigns. Instead of wasting money on a campaign that isn’t generating any sort of engagement; you can stop the current campaign and start a new one.
All in all, I have found very positive reviews from those who have used LinkedIn’s Sponsored Updates. People have been very happy with the targeting, ease of use, and organic flow of the posts.
