Social Media Marketing: Using Social Network Revamps
DIY Sprocket Solutions
With such a large variety of social media platforms in the market, it can be a tough job to keep up with all of the various updates, additions, changes, and redesigns that all of the different networks have going on. As a social media marketer, or just a business on social media, it is a good idea to keep an eye out for these changes and what they can mean for your business or strategy.
Networks are businesses as well. They are constantly working to change and evolve so that they are meeting the needs of users. This can be very advantageous to your marketing efforts, if you know what sorts of features have been added or improved to the networks you are using. This is why, in addition to having a content calendar of posts you should be making to various networks, you should also have an overall marketing calendar. This is where you would add tasks like checking in on specific networks to see what new updates or tweaks they might have made.
Once you find out what the changes are, you can decide if they can be used in your social media strategy. Some of the changes may negatively affect your social strategy. Your posts may not be seen in the same way, rules may have changed about the way you can post content, etc. Staying on top of those changes can help you not to fall behind. You can adapt your tactics as these differences come up.
It sounds a little overwhelming. If you’re marketing for your business across five different networks, you may not be sure you can keep up with the constant changes on so many different platforms. This is where dividing it up on a calendar can come in handy. Once a week, check in on a different network that you are using. See if there were any changes, assess if those changes affect you or could be an advantage or disadvantage to you, and address your strategy accordingly. The divide and conquer approach can certainly help you to stop from being overwhelmed.
Along the same lines, you may want to consider adding a task on that calendar to investigate social platforms that you aren’t currently using. Have they made any recent changes that might be beneficial to your business? How can you incorporate that into your social media marketing strategy? Is it a valuable option for you?
Social networks are constantly growing, changing, and adapting. Your social marketing strategy should be doing the same. Consistency is important, but so is evolution. Find a good balance in your marketing efforts.
How often do you check in on the newest updates and changes on the social networks you are using? How do you think you should use these revamps to adjust your marketing strategy? Comment below!
