Holiday Checklist: 5 Quick Social Media Updates To Make Now
Just a few minutes each!
Finding it hard to focus during the holidays? Here is a list of no-brainer updates you can make on your social media platforms so you keep in touch with your customers and clients.
Sometimes December gets so hectic you wonder what you actually accomplished after working hard all day. Fortunately, you don’t have to spend a lot of time or brain power to clean up your social media accounts and stay relevant. The items on this checklist can be done one at a time whenever you have a few minutes or want to complete a task that won’t stress you out. Refer back to it every other month or so to make sure that you’re still appealing to customers the way that you intend to.
Profile Image
This is the first thing that your followers see when they come to your page or see your posts. Make sure it is relevant to your brand, that it fits properly in the space allowed, and that it sends the message that you’re trying to get across. If you are using your business logo, it’s even more important that the image is correctly sized and cropped to be instantly recognizable.
Banner, Background, and Additional Images
Whether it’s Facebook, LinkedIn, or another customer-facing account, make sure that other photos on your page are cohesive and send a clear message or call to action. Use an online tool to edit your graphics so that they fit the space provided properly. (Just google “best free online photo editor.”) Plan to rotate these images every few months so your profile stays fresh.
About Section
You probably set this up a really long time ago and may be surprised to read how much your business has changed. Add your new products or services and clear out the superfluous stuff. Fix overlooked grammar mistakes and rewrite your description to be more exciting and clear. Be sure your contact information and website URL are complete and up-to-date.
Links
If you have links on your profile page to your website, blog, sales landing page, check each one to be sure those links still work and are up to date. It’s common to forget where one originally placed all those links after setting up a marketing campaign and once that campaign changes, updating those links is often overlooked. You might not notice it, but new customers do.
Check Yourself Out on Mobile
We’re all using mobile devices for a major portion of our online time, but how often do you look at your own business accounts? Your profiles might not be rendering exactly how you’d expect, so check yourself out to make sure everything comes up clean and clear.
When you just need to “settle your brains” this the holiday season and want to feel you accomplished something, pick just one of these tasks. It won’t take long, it’s important to your business, and you’ll love being able to check it off the list. And if your profiles need a major do-over and you simply don’t have the time, just give us a call and the Sprocket team can take care of it for you.
