Using Canva to Create Facebook Ads

DIY Sprocket Solutions

Canva is an excellent, and free, graphic-design tool. It’s a great asset because it is easy to use and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts. For social media marketers, it’s an amazing app that allows you to create great images for all of your different social media accounts within minutes. Canva already has pre-made templates that are the correct sizing for the different platforms. This takes a big chunk out of the work for you.

When you create ads for Facebook without a tool like Canva you have to guess how the ads will look when all laid out. You’ll need to check sizing and see how it will fit in the view provided by Facebook. This tool takes the guesswork out of the equation for you.

You can choose what type of ad you want, and a variety of templates will pop up in the correct size and format. Not only are the templates there for you to use, there are also a variety of pre-designed layouts to work with. You have stock images to choose from for your ad for $1 each, which is a great price for stock photos. You should still remember to use the 20% rule. Your ad should be made up of a maximum of 20% text –otherwise it will be rejected by Facebook for not meeting guidelines.

Because Canva is such a great tool, it is widely used. You don’t want your ads to look like everyone else’s on the market. You want to stand out. So, even when using a Canva template or layout, make sure to adapt it to your business’ own specific style. Use original images, change up fonts, rearrange photos, etc. Set yourself apart from other businesses who may be using the same approach.

Each platform has its own set of ad guidelines. Canva truly does take the guess work out of dimensions, image/text ratio, and more. This can be a way to streamline your ad making process and become more efficient to save time for other tasks. Have you attempted using Canva for creating Facebook ads? What has your experience been? Did you stick to the templates or change it up? What did you think about their selection? How easy was it to use? Comment below!
