Miracle on 34th Networking Event

The Sprocket Report

While anticipating the ninetieth march down 34th Street of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we started thinking about all the things for which we give thanks this year. We were reminded of the old “Miracle on 34th Street” movie which begins with the parade and goes on to mirror a bit of Sprocket’s history, one of the many things for which we are thankful!

That’s Sprocket’s experience, too. When rival web developers J&S Tech Designs and Gnu Ventures Company met at a chamber of commerce event, we didn’t glare at each other from across the room. Instead, we listened to and learned from each other. We tried working together on a project which went so well, we did it again. While Mr. Macy and Mr. Gimbel didn’t merge their stores, creating the partnership that is Sprocket Websites was the natural next step for us.

The Sprocket team continues to look for miracles at networking events and we discover them all the time. We meet wonderful clients to build websites for and smart programmers who can help us build them. We talk with people about making sense of their internet marketing which strengthens our friendships with fellow business owners. Those friends then introduce us to their friends and our networking circle continues to grow.

Of course we are thankful that we can pay the bills, but working – and networking – is about more than just paying bills. As Fred says in the movie:  “It's kindness and joy and love and all the other intangibles…Look Doris, someday you're going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn't work. And when you do, don't overlook those lovely intangibles. You'll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile.”

So this week we want to say “thank you” to all the people in our network from co-workers and consultants to clients and connections. Please know that we appreciate all of your “lovely intangibles” that make working with you worthwhile.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and families!

Every other Tuesday, Sprocket sends out the Sprocket Report, our latest business tip or our reaction to what's currently happening in Internet Marketing.

You'll read a web marketing tip from Kate, another one from Breanne, and - bonus! - we always have a guest post as well.

That's three valuable posts that you can read, plus a quick look at upcoming events and what's being said on Twitter. A great synopsis!

You'll want to get this newsletter for yourself, in your own inbox, so here's how. It's easy!

Scroll back up and put your email in the box. OR scroll to the bottom of each page. We have our newsletter subscription box there, too!

We NEVER give out your email address to anybody else, and we don't flood you with ads. It's just good, free information.
