We Went to DNN Summit and All We Got Was This T-Shirt…

The Sprocket Report

…As well as a bunch of cool tools to pass on to our clients! While the networking was great for OUR business, here’s what we brought back for YOUR business.

Even if your organization has a DNN website, you are probably not interested in developing your own modules. Conferences like DNN Summit tend to be tech-heavy and attract many more coders than end-users. With our clients in mind, we attended sessions to learn new ways to make your website work harder.

One of sessions we sat in on was "Using DNN as the Platform for Your Digital Workplace Transformation" with Mark Harle of OptEngage. Anyone whose business or not-for-profit has moved beyond the solopreneur stage knows the aggravation of trying to coordinate multiple people and projects. With OptEngage, you can add a digital workspace to your current DNN website instead of having to buy, build and learn an additional platform.

What can you do with your website? Consider some of these advantages:

  • Organize your documents and make them easily accessible. For instance, upload your employee handbook and all of your training materials. Or build wikis for branding guidelines, policies and procedures.

  • Find the contact you need quickly with an employee directory. Search by name, department or job title.

  • Keep track of collaborative discussions with exclusive work spaces for specific departments or groups instead of long strings of emails cc’d to people who aren’t actively involved.

  • Manage individual projects with either the built-in app or display your current project management app in the OptEngage dashboard.

  • And with responsive design, everything is easily accessible from a phone for when you or your colleagues are away from your desks.

Websites that are built with DNN can add this kind of functionality easily because DNN is a database-driven platform. And with member login, all that data stays secured. Additionally, permission management provides access to only specified pages and at the editing level required for each member to efficiently do their work.

Similar operations typically existed on intranets which required added effort and expense to maintain, but this digital workplace can be built onto the website you already use for marketing your business.

Sprocket learned a lot at DNN Summit this year and we’re eager to share it with you! Want to hear more about how to make your website work harder? Just give us a call
