DIY Sprocket Solutions

This article has been updated on 8/4/2020 with the article entitled “Getting Real Value with your DIY Website Builder and Hosting Company.”

For the real people of the world, for the we're not exactly what you'd call millionaires, for the small business owners, for the just starting out-ers: Get Your Money’s Worth!  If you only have $20 to bring to the grocery store, don’t walk in and grab a box of $20 gourmet cookies and walk out.  You don’t have any milk to dip those cookies in, the cookies have nuts and you don’t even like nuts, and for the record –they don’t even taste good.  Your mission was not a success.  On the flip side of that coin, don’t walk in and grab 20 items from the dollar section either.  You don’t need a tiny rubber spatula or mini slinky that will get tangled before you leave the store.  Get what you need.

When you’re just starting out, your budget might be tight and you might be left scrambling for the best way to use what you’ve got.  Do your research.  Are we talking online presence here?  If so, what do you need? A domain name? A website? A business email? A social media presence? Etc.etc. etc.  Make sure that the company you’re buying from is going to make your pennies work for you.  You may want your website to look like a Fortune 500 company’s… but you may not have a fortune to spend on that site.  That doesn’t mean that you still can’t develop a great site.  You’re just going to need to invest a little elbow grease into the process. That’s right my friend, you may have to DIY a bit.

If you have money to invest in a website but not enough left over to hire someone to manage your social media presence –then you may have to roll up your sleeps and dive into the social media world on your own.  Or vice versa, if you can’t stand the thought of “Facebooking” all day long, or if you have no clue what a “tweet” is –you might want to consider getting professional help.  Via social media marketing consultant, that is.

Don’t spread your money too thin.  Don’t buy a bunch of $1 products that aren’t working correctly for you.  Invest in what is going to work for you; get what you need.  You might not be able to afford everything you want right now, but you can invest in some quality products that are necessary to your “right now” and plan ahead to budget for what you’ll need next.

Not to toot our own horn, but we’ve got a pretty great array of products right here for some pretty great prices.  Search for what you need, do your homework, and find a company you trust.  And for the love of everything good, please stop buying plastic slinkies.  They are really nothing but a tangled mess.

Take a second, spread this around.  Like us on Facebook and throw us a ReTweet.  If you don’t know what a “retweet” is – GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLEASE!
