If You’re Not Moving Forward…
The Sprocket Report
…then you’re moving backward, they say. So The Sprocket Report is getting a new look, but not just for newness’ sake. Much thought and research went into creating a more useful, attractive product. Take a look at what we learned and use it to freshen up your own newsletter.
You have no doubt seen the seminars, webinars, books and blog posts about crafting the perfect email. Emails fall into two basic categories: Editorial and Promotional. Promotional emails are great for restaurants that frequently send mouth-watering pictures of food along with discounts and coupons.
Editorial emails offer content with a different “call to action.” Experts will tell you to provide “quality content” or “content of value.” But “quality” is in the eye of the beholder, so learning what is of value to you became our goal.
The majority of our clients are either small-to-medium business owners or organizations that run like a small-to-medium business. Most day-to-day operations are handled by a handful of individuals rather than by departments and everyone wears a lot of hats.
Unless you’re a web developer like we are, learning the latest technology is only important in how it affects the way you market and sell your own services and products. In the new Sprocket Report you’ll find Kate’s web marketing articles along with tips from our do-it-yourself rep, Breanne. We will also share guest posts from non-technical business colleagues.
You’re busy – we know that. So each email is a short summary of marketing articles, business news and local stories for a quick once-over with links to read more if something catches your eye. White space, color scheme and graphics were designed to be visually appealing but alt tags and a plain text version were also included for inboxes that prefer it.
Social media reminds us to take time for personal contact. While you may not want to hear what we ate for lunch today, knowing that we have the same struggles and triumphs gives us a connection. Please feel free to share your news and business tips with us as we are sharing with you.
Lots of other technical, design and editorial techniques went into the creation of this new Sprocket Report. You might find this email design infographic useful as it sums up a lot of the basic objectives. One final technical point you may notice is that this is a responsive email layout so the Sprocket Report should be easier to read on your phone or tablet.
Moving forward, you may see a few more tweaks. Your input is welcome and we look forward to hearing what you think of the new look. We’d be happy to help you as well! Contact us today to talk about the exciting things we can do together to tweak your internet marketing presence.
