How Well Does Your Website Work for Mobile Visitors?

The Sprocket Report

Pew Research reports that 81% of Americans own a smartphone. So the chances are very high that your customers also have one – and are looking at your website on it.

Some businesses, such as restaurants, have an exceptionally high percentage of mobile users, but every business can count on having some number of views from a mobile phone. They are amazingly powerful these days – and so easy to use in a car or in a waiting room or even in bed. As a result, many consumers have stopped replacing their home computers and use only their smartphones instead.

If you are wondering how much of your audience is coming to you through mobile devices compared to desktop computers, check your Google Analytics report to see the percentage. You may be surprised!

The trend started years already and web developers like the team here at Sprocket have helped organizations recreate their websites to be mobile-friendly in response. Believe it or not, there are still a few folks who haven’t updated their websites, but for most the next step is improving the experience on their site for mobile visitors.

Statistics show that folks get irritated on poorly laid out websites and irritated folks aren’t likely to respond to your Call To Action. While it’s always enlightening to experiment by using your site as if you were your own customer, there are also tools that can help identify any annoying mobile issues. One such tool is “Test My Site” at Think with Google which will analyze your website and rank it for mobile usage.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, all kinds of business operations have moved online and experts predict the trend will continue even when we return to normalcy. If your website could benefit from an improved mobile experience, just give us a call. We’d be happy to discuss best practices for providing an intuitive, welcoming website for your mobile visitors.
