5 Web Goals for the Upcoming Year

The Sprocket Report

This article has been updated on 12/6/2022 with the article entitled “5 Goals for your Website in the New Year.”

Many businesses want to reveal updated websites in the new year, which means that December is a traditionally busy time for us as we get them ready to launch. If revamping your website is one of your upcoming goals, January is a perfect time to talk to us! Not sure what improvements are most important? Here is a checklist of questions to start the conversation:

Website Improvement Goals for 2015:

  • Your site is already mobile-friendly, right?

We won’t make fun of you if you haven’t gotten around to this yet, but your website simply must be available to folks who use their phones and tablets to search the web.

  • What’s your call to action?

An amazing number of businesses neglect to tell their web visitors what to do once they’re on the website. Your entire site may have a CTA, but so can each page. Calls to action include “sign up for our newsletter,” “click here to learn more” and “call us now to order.”

  • Is your current news still current?

Few things scream “unprofessional” as much as old, outdated news, coupons and calendar entries. Once you’ve cleaned up your pages, look into a content management system that expires or archives posts after their “freshness dates.”

  • Are you regularly adding new content?

You don’t need to write a daily essay, but folks sizing you up online get suspicious if nothing has changed on your website since 2011. Consider blogging, photo galleries or other ways to tell your company’s story.

  • Do you look at your stats?

The numbers are there to guide your next move. No one clicking that link? Try tweaking the words, the placement or even the color. The amount of information available is staggering, so make use of it.

You have probably heard this advice before, but maybe the time is right to finally take action. Call or email us today and get on the calendar for January. We look forward to hearing from you!

Every other Tuesday, Sprocket sends out the Sprocket Report, our latest business tip or our reaction to what's currently happening in Internet Marketing.

You'll read a web marketing tip from Kate, another one from Breanne, and - bonus! - we always have a guest post as well.

That's three valuable posts that you can read, plus a quick look at upcoming events and what's being said on Twitter. A great synopsis!

You'll want to get this newsletter for yourself, in your own inbox, so here's how. It's easy!

Scroll back up and put your email in the box. OR scroll to the bottom of each page. We have our newsletter subscription box there, too!

We NEVER give out your email address to anybody else, and we don't flood you with ads. It's just good, free information.
