5 Free Social Media Measurement Tools

DIY Sprocket Solutions

We talk a lot here about the importance of social media marketing, but how are you measuring your efforts? To figure out what is working and what isn’t it makes sense to test out a social media measurement tool rather than investing in expensive metrics that you don’t need or use.

Here are 5 social media measurement tools that are completely free to you.

Google Analytics:

Google analytics can be used to measure traffic from LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other social sites. There are a ton of great features to poke around and play with, not to mention the fact that you can use Google Analytics to measure much more than just social media profiles. You can track activity to your website and more.

Statigr.am:

This tool focuses in on your Instagram account activity. It tracks insights like total number of likes, most liked photos, average number of likes and comments per photo, etc. It also has features that show you the best times to post, top tags you can use and more.

Social Mention:

This full-featured search tool tracks activity across Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, blogs and the web itself. It has great reach for a free tool.

Talkwalker Alerts:

Talkwalker Alerts is an alert service. This service delivers email updates with your latest relevant mentions right into your inbox. You will never miss a mention and can stay up to date on the conversation about you.

Topsy:

Topsy is a great tool because it’s not just one Twitter tool but three twitter tools in one. Topsy works as a search engine that searches links, tweets, photos, videos, etc. Topsy also looks at social analytics and social trends on Twitter as well.

There you have it, five free tools to help you track your highs and lows. Figure out what’s working for you (and what isn’t) and improve from there! Does anyone use any of these tools now? What has your experience been? Are there any other free tools that you like to use to track your social media metrics?

Sprocket Report

Every other Tuesday, Sprocket sends out the Sprocket Report, our latest business tip or our reaction to what's currently happening in Internet Marketing.

You'll read a web marketing tip from Kate, another one from Breanne, and - bonus! - we always have a guest post as well.

That's three valuable posts that you can read, plus a quick look at upcoming events and what's being said on Twitter. A great synopsis!

You'll want to get this newsletter for yourself, in your own inbox, so here's how. It's easy!

Scroll back up and put your email in the box. OR scroll to the bottom of each page. We have our newsletter subscription box there, too!

We NEVER give out your email address to anybody else, and we don't flood you with ads. It's just good, free information.
